National Energy Model
Run the model
This is the model's own control screen. Set each technology's capacity with the sliders, or choose a real fleet from the Fleet preset list at the foot of the panel (2013 to 2025, or the CCC's 2040 Balanced Pathway). Every change runs a full year, all 17,520 half-hours of 2025 demand and weather, through the same Python model, on the model server. It takes about a second.
The map shows the land and sea each technology needs, drawn to scale over the 400 kV and 275 kV network, the interconnectors and the gas supply routes. Drag the areas to move them; zoom in to see their labels. The buttons above the chart open the generation shares, gas supply, Sankey diagram, cost breakdown and capacity factors for whatever you have built. The dotted line on the chart marks the half-hour behind Operating now.
Starting the model…
If the model server has been idle, the first run takes up to 20 seconds while it starts.
